Sweet dreams in Mumbai.
May 13, 2015
My husband lived in Mumbai or to the natives Bombay for three years. In that time we both fell in love with the city. It’s like no other, yes it’s hot especially before the monsoon and it can be a little dirty and rough around the edges in places, but here is a place where any thing is possible.
We go back whenever we take a trip up to Rajasthan which has now become the part time home of SVP.
There are brilliant restaurants and shops and Mumbai has just opened its first boutique hotel Abode. So, if you are looking for something stylish that isn’t too expensive we would recommend staying here. The room rates depend on whether you want to share a bathroom? No in our case. Want air con? Yes please and if you want a suite. Always. We thought we share with you some pictures the owner kindly let us take of his new venture. Abode is based down in the southern part of the city in Colaba, a stones throw away from the famous Gateway to India and some great bars, restaurants and shops. The southern part of Mumbai is full of all the old colonial buildings such as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria which is now a world heritage site.
The other great place to stay is the Taj down in Colaba, they have the best service we have ever had at a hotel, no detail is overlooked and nothing is too much trouble, they even changed the mattress for me so it was just perfect for my bad back. Sweet dreams.
